Jonny grew up in the town Kellinghusen in northern rural Germany. He has competed in all three disciplines, Dressage, Jumping, and Eventing up to S-level. Meeting Rosemarie Springer, the Dressage rider proved to be a turning point in his career though. It was at her place that he completed his “Bereiter” and had the chance to meet and train with the great Herbert Rehbein. Jonny then went on to work in Bremerhaven for Detlef Saul where he stayed for 12 years. During his time there he won numerous Grand Prix, topping it with a victory at the German Professional’s Championships in Balve in ’92. Meanwhile Jonny had also met Anika, who he married in ’93. Two years later the two started their own business. Ever since then the international Dressage-scene is unimaginable without Jonny as a trainer and coach in it. Many of his students have made the headlines over the years. Among them are Bernadette Pujals from Mexico with her Hannoverian Vincent at the World Games in Aachen , the Japanese Yuko Kitai, and Australian Hayley Beresford competing the Olympics in Hong Kong. Natalie Hobday (South Africa) has been training with Jonny for more than 15 years since successfully competing at the World Championships in Rome. Riders from all over the world have come to rely on Jonny’s help and knowledge, and no one more than the German Team which he led to a Silver Medal at the 2012 London Olympics as the Head Coach. Jonny is a trainer through and through, always motivated to find the harmonious connection between horse and rider.
